The seven-time champion of the tournament in Miami Serena Williams reached the semifinals. The world number one beat No27 in the scheme Sabine Lisicki from Germany with 7:6 (4), 1:6, 6:3 in the two-hour match. This was a victory No700 in the career of the American.
In the first set both tennis players exchanged three attacks each other, and in the tiebreak the American prevailed with 7:4 points.
Lizitski advantage of the problems of Serena with the first serve and just smashed her in the second part, she broke three times her serve, but conceded a break. In the decisive part, however, Williams was second to none, she made a single breakthrough, but didn`t give to the opponent the opportunity for such.
The semi-final champion of the last two editions in Miami Serena Williams expects the third placed Simona Halep, who beat the American Sloan Stephens with 6:1, 7:5. Both had to play on the same stage in Indian Wells, but Serena refused and subsequently the Romanian won the trophy.
In the other semifinal meet Andrea Petkovic and Carla Suarez Navarro.
