Pakhomov get for Russia the third world junior record

Daniil Pakhomov had not any pressure to do a performance on a high level as a champion at men 100m butterfly, as he get for Russia` the third world junior record at the Baku 2015 European Games.

Pakhomov has swam the race for 52.25 seconds at the Baku Aquatics Centre on Friday, a day after he has won the gold at 200m. Butterfly.

"I expected it," he said. "I was fast at training and my coaches told me I could increase my speed. I can do it faster."

His record has been important for the men from Russia to be back in the race with the Russian women,who have won 22 gold medals against 10 from the men.

"It has been like that for a while," Pakhomov added. "They are always winning like that. Can we beat them? We can try."

Maria Astashkina set the 200m breaststroke record on Thursday (2:23.06), then she has helped the others of the team Mariia Kameneva, Polina Egorova and Arina Openysheva for a new standard in the 4x100m medley (4:03.22).

Anton Chupkov was a little bit less from his previous junior world record at 100m breaststroke. He clocked 1:00.94, just short from 1:00.84 his record at the Nanjing 2014 Youth Olympic Games.

Aleksandr Prokofev has missed to qualify for the semi-final at men 200m freestyle because his team-mates Elisei Stepanov and Nikolay Snegirev were faster, and only two representatives from one country can continue.

Azerbaijan had a reason to celebrate, after Anton Jeltyakov qualified for the semi-final at the men`s 100m breaststroke to put him much closer to his goal to become the first Azerbaijan who reaches a final.
